Summer Workshop Schedule

AM = 9am-1pm

PM = 2pm – 6pm

No children under 15 allowed. Children under 15-18 must be accompanied by a parent. Wear closed toe shoes and clothes you don’t care about getting paint, glue and other materials on. We provide a refrigerator to store food and beverages and water and soda will be available. No alcoholic beverages allowed during class or in the shop but afterwards on the patio is fine.

Saturday June 22nd Tombstone Workshops $45 Limit 12 per session

Saturday July 20th Flying Crank Skeleton Workshop AM $150 limit 12
Build a flying Crank Skeleton using a 6RPM motor from FrightProps, a 4 foot skeleton from Skeleton Store. Build your own wooden frame and detail the prop to look like a floating skeleton ghost torso. The parts alone for this prop value at over $130.

Saturday July 27th Columns & Fence Workshop All day $80 limit 12
Build 2 four foot foam textured columns and an 8 foot section of wrought iron textured fence. The workshop will teach you all the techniques to build your own free standing cemetery fence.

Saturday August 10th Casting Accents AM $30 limit 12

Cast tombstone accents and rigid foam skulls using our existing molds we have created. Learn how to cast your own and valuable mold making techniques.

Saturday August 10th Tombstone Workshop PM $45 limit 12
After you make your own accents you can then make your own Tombstone in the same day.

Saturday August 24th Foam Texturing Techniques and Q&A $40 limit 12 per session
Learn how we texture foam to look like stone, brick, wood, cinder block and other materials. Ask questions about how we make our stone like props. Take home some samples. This workshop is one we present at conventions all over the country. There is a detailed handout that comes with it.

We are running the yard one last time tonight. Most of the effects are up and running. Come on by and check it out.

We will run the effects in the display one last time this Friday night from dusk to 11pm. This will be your last chance to see the display running before we take it down on Saturday.

Halloween Night

The effects will be running Wednesday Halloween Night from 5-10pm. They might be somewhat limited if it is pouring rain. The MHS dance team will be performing Thriller from 5-10pm every 15-30 minutes depending on how much it is raining.

The street will be closed at JCB and SE 43rd and SE Roswell and SE 43rd so viewers and trick-or-treaters can walk safely.

Effects ran on Saturday and Sunday night but were limited on Friday due to the rain. Had lots of visitors during the day and in the evenings both Saturday and Sunday.

It has started to rain and it looks like it is going to pour later. To keep our props safe and better able to return to work next weekend, we are not running the effects tonight. Sorry about that everyone!

The Effects Are On Tonight

Was a dry day and we were able to get the effects out in the yard! The display is running tonight.

Be sure to visit us tomorrow from 11am – 4pm for our Open House – get a chance to see behind the scenes and watch the Milwaukie High School Dance Team perform “Thriller” – this event is also a fundraiser for the dance team.

Rain Forecast All Weekend

Looks like heavy rain on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. The effects will be limited to sound and fog along with a few animated pieces like the coffin. We probably won’t bring out the projectors if it is pouring rain or the coach driver. Lights will be on as usual though and if you come out and brave the weather the display will still be great to view.

Open House This Sunday

Join us on Sunday, 11am to 4pm for our Annual Open House. This is the only time we let the public on the property to view the props up close…well, closer.

The crew who built the yard will be there to answer questions and show you around.

This is also a fundraiser for the Milwaukie High School Dance Team, who are back this year and will be performing “Thriller” in the graveyard. All donations on this day will go directly to the dance team.

We will hold the event rain or shine. Hope to see you there!

Grave Happenings

The Graveyard is set up.

We spent all weekend getting the display setup and ready for viewing. Starting Monday October 1st the display will be available for viewing during the day with lights coming on from dusk to 10pm. The full effects will run Friday/Saturday/Sunday nights dusk to 11pm (10pm on Sunday).

Our Open house will be Sunday October 14th from 11am-4pm. The MHS Pony Prancers dance team will be peforming their version of “Thriller” during the day. They will also perform Halloween night from 5-10pm.
